The Company has always implemented a meticulous and ambitious programme for measured growth, expansion and diversification. From its registered office, therefore current operates 9 vessels with cargo capacities of between 4,100 and 5,500 MT, as well as managing as co-owner a further 4 vessels (2 general cargo and 2 small oil tankers), together with a floating crane.
Even though the Company has traditionally operated, and continues to do so, in a zone between the ports of Northern Europe and the whole Mediterranean, including North African ports, it is firmly committed to opening up new trans-European markets. The Company is currently immersed in an expansion process, after signing 2 partnership contracts with a Colombian firm to build 2 sister ships (8,000 DWAT each), which will mainly operate on routes from the USA to Argentina.
Even though transporting goods by sea is the main activity of the Company, it is present in different sub-sectors of the maritime sector. Here is a breakdown of the main ones.

Naviera Murueta S.A. has a Shipping Department that provides a first-rate services to its customers' vessels and its own ones that arrive at the port of Bilbao.
It manages efficiently and effectively manages all the formalities related to their dispatch and the requests of each crew.

Naviera Murueta S.A. has a 15% stake in this shipping Company, purchased as part of a public tender from SEPI, Sociedad Estatal de Participationes Industriales, S.A. in November 1997.
This Company is currently the parent Company of the Elcano Group that owns a total of 25 vessels. It is one of the most important shipping companies in Europe and is enjoying a period of expansion.
It has offices in Madrid, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

Mureloil S.A. is owned by Empresa Naviera Elcano S.A. (60% of its share capital) and by Naviera Murueta S.A. (40%).
It is managed by both companies and owns two vessels (Bahía Uno and Bahía Tres), which are used to transport and supply fuel to other vessels, with a cargo capacity of 3,800 and 6,920 DWT respectively.

Naviera Murueta S.A. holds a 41.50% stake in this Company, acquired in February 2007.
It owns and operates two mini bulk carriers (5000 DWAT, Barizo and Bouga ), both built in 1999, and they managed by Naviera Murueta S.A, except for their commercial aspects.

This Company was set up in Madeira by Navierra Murueta, S. A. and Navesco, S. A. (Colombian Company), with each of the partners holding a 50% stake.
Its corporate purpose is to operating vessels and floating structures, together with any aspect related to maritime transport.
It will mainly operate between ports in North and South America, from the USA to Argentina, with vessels fitted with their own loading and unloading cranes.

The “Consulado de Bilbao Dos” crane barge is owned by Bilbao Port Authority and rented out as a bareboat charter to Naviera Murueta S.A..
It operates in the port and estuary of Bilbao, where it provides dock-to-dock transport services or direct loading on to the vessels for parts or special structures that cannot be transported by road due to its weight and size.
This floating crane barge has a lifting capacity of 400 MT and a jib range of 50 metres.
